ECONOMY & SUSTAINABILITY:   2nd MEETING FOR THE 6th EDITION OF THE EUROPEAN WEEK OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISE

EUROPEAN SME WEEK 2014 – TWO ITALIAN-CROATIAN EVENTS PROMOTED BY THE MUNICIPALITIES OF MONDOLFO, RIJEKA AND TROGIR IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PROTECNO SRL. ON NOVEMBER 28th IN RIJEKA (FIUME), THE SECOND CROSS-BORDER EVENT.

The event takes place in Rijeka on November 28th from 9:30 to 14:30 in the Council Chamber of the Municipal Hall and it is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, professionals, local authorities and worlds of training, research and economics. Economics and Sustainability, the ‘best practice’ business, to grow the company with innovative and sustainable projects, opportunities to share at European level the business idea; from sustainability to “green economy”, the first Italian-Croatian EEIG, the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region, programs and EU funds for sustainable growth, the management of the water cycle: these are the themes addressed by the speakers.

With the cities of Rijeka and Trogir, Croatia is in the Agenda of the European SME Week 2014 with a workshop divided into three sessions. The first session will welcome the Consul General of Italy in Croatia Renato Cianfarani, the deputy mayor of Rijeka, the Mayor of Mondolfo Pietro Cavallo and the Mayor of Trogir, Ante Stipcic.

In the second session, the seminar addresses the issues of sustainability and economy with the ‘best practices’ for sustainable development. Also for Croatia this represent a significant opportunity to respond to the crisis, not only through projects and innovative actions, but also with growth prospects for a sustainable economy for both SMEs and Croatian public authorities in partnership with other EU member states. Mr. Belbusti LorenzoCEO PROTECNO Ltd. and President of the Council Installers Confindustria Marche, will report about his experience and about the ‘good practice’ of his company in the business cycle of water management. The company PROTECNO Mondolfo Ltd. is a leading company in design, construction, installation and managing of facilities for the treatment of primary water, process water and waste water; a company leader in Italy and in the world for innovative systems, technology and infrastructure as part of the cycle of water management.After him will intervene the Director and the Deputy Manager of the Croatian Waters Consortium ‘HRVATSKE VODE’ –respectively Ivica Plisic and Danko Holjevic – and the director of the Consortium Water VODOVOD of Zara, Tomislav Matek, which will debate the problem of water supply to coastline and islands of Croatia.

The President of the Italian-Croatian EEIGLivia Zanetti, the Mayor of the city of Predappio Giorgio Frassineti, the Council members of the City of Trogir Patricija Pavlov andVjenceslav Pejsa, will introduce the first Italian-Croatian EEIG “People and Cities of Europe”, while Zeljko Smitran and Goran Brasnic, respectively CEO of the company Ind-Eko and Trollhattan, will talk about two ‘best practice’ businesses, which received European resources for sustainable development and competitiveness in Croatia.

In the third session of the workshop, Massimo Bello – European Project Manager and Staff Deputy at European Parliament – and Paolo Meucci – Director of Commission AFCO of the European Parliament – will converse about the innovative and sustainable projects in the new Strategy Europe 2020 and about the European programs (Horizon 2020 Life) dedicated to sustainable growth.

Ernest Cukrov – Director of the Croatian Development Agency Porin – and Doris Sosic – Project Manager of the Croatian Development Agency Porin – will focus on EU programs and EU funds for the sustainable economy in Croatia and will present the Croatian project on youth and employment approved by the EU.
